Furniture Series

105105300 is a furniture series composed entirely of identical pieces of Hinoki wood (Japanese cypress), each measuring 105 × 105 × 300 mm.

Rather than treating the dimensions of the material as a limitation, this project embraces them as a starting point for generating new forms. By accepting the given conditions, the material itself becomes a guide, determining the final shape of each object.

The hinoki timber is sourced from a local carpenter. Although every piece has the same dimensions, different combinations create distinct forms and expressions, resulting in a paradoxical process in which the material itself dictates how it is used.

Each piece can serve multiple purposes—as a chair, stool, side table, or step stool—allowing its function to be defined by the user.
