Wood Terminal

London, 2023
Pine and Sapele Wood

Wood Terminal is a wood-recycling workshop that encourages people to DIY and recycle unwanted wood, such as old furniture, pallets, and firewood. It collects or gets donated wood from the local communities in London and transforms it into handmade wooden tools.

In 2022, the UK generated approximately 4.5 million tonnes of waste wood. Household waste wood has been increasing in recent years. However, in 2021, there was a 3.6% decrease, partly attributed to wood manufacturers promoting DIY projects during the lockdown.

In a big city like London, used things are quickly replaced by new ones. Even in such a situation, reusing objects is highly important. The idea of Wood Terminal encourages people to reuse wooden products before discarding them. The design of the products is minimalistic, which demonstrates less processing and the possibility of being handmade, so people can easily copy and make them at home and build their own recycling workshops.
